President Joe Biden is causing distress among his staff as he continues with his reelection campaign despite calls for him to withdraw, according to a report released on Friday. This information emerges as the elderly leader enters a crucial week of scheduled events, with his campaign facing the risk of failure. Axios reveals that Biden’s resolve to persevere after a poor debate performance is evident in his refusal to entertain any challenges, leaving his team disheartened as they strive to maintain his optimal performance.
“Everyone is miserable, and senior advisers are a total black hole,” a White House official told the outlet. “Even if you’re trying to focus on work, nothing is going to break through or get any acknowledgment” from bosses.
A high-ranking DNC official continued: “The only thing that can really allay concerns is for the president to demonstrate that he’s capable of running this campaign.
“Everything else feels like ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ by his inner circle to prop him up.”
His own aides worry that they “have created a cocoon around him that initially seemed earnestly protective, but now appears potentially deceptive in the debate’s aftermath.”
One responsibility of Biden’s close circle of advisors is to assist him in overcoming cognitive lapses, such as reminding him of individuals he has known for an extended period. While attempts have been made to instill confidence in the team, there are still doubts lingering among some individuals regarding its effectiveness, especially as the president persistently encounters setbacks.
Biden’s remarks to DNC officials Wednesday, “seemed stilted and scripted, raising further questions among staffers who’ve wondered whether his tight inner circle is being honest about his abilities.”
