Just In: DeSantis Hits Biden With Major Lawsuit

(CBrief) – The Biden administration, as well as President Joe Biden himself, is facing a mounting list of legal challenges, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis just added to them in a big way.

The administration of DeSantis, who is running second behind former president and current Florida resident Donald Trump for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, has filed suit against the Biden administration “to ensure freedom in higher education.”

In a news release, the popular GOP governor ripped Biden’s Department of Education specifically:

Throughout Governor DeSantis’ time in office, Florida has ranked number one in the nation for higher education, yet the U.S. Department of Education has unconstitutionally collaborated with accreditation bodies to try to block the Governor’s efforts to bring increased transparency and accountability to public colleges and universities. This lawsuit seeks to strip private, unaccountable accreditors of their authority to stand in the way of Florida’s higher education reforms.

“I will not allow Joe Biden’s Department of Education to defund America’s #1 higher education system all because we refuse to bow to unaccountable accreditors who think they should run Florida’s public universities,” said the governor, according to the release.

“Throughout my time in office, I have made it a priority to bring transparency and accountability to higher education and to reorient the mission of our colleges and universities away from purveying destructive ideologies and back toward the pursuit of truth and the preparation of our students for success,” he went on.

“The Biden administration’s attempts to block these reforms is an abuse of federal power, and with this lawsuit, we will ensure that Florida’s pursuit of educational excellence will continue,” he said.

Other Florida officials sounded off as well.

“For too long, private academic accreditors have been holding our colleges and universities hostage,” said Attorney General Ashley Moody, also a Republican.

“Thanks to the fearless leadership of Governor DeSantis, we are fighting to take back our public postsecondary education system from unelected private organizations that have no accountability or oversight,” she added.

Ray Rodrigues, Chancellor of the State University System of Florida, noted: “Gov. DeSantis and I believe a high-quality education should be held to the highest standards. Therefore, Florida’s #1 higher education system must be allowed to choose the regional accrediting agency that aligns with our institutional goals and meets those standards.

“The University of Central Florida’s goal to become a preeminent university and join the American Association of Universities is better supported by joining The Higher Learning Commission,” noted Rodrigues.

In order for a college or university to have access to federal student loans and operate fully in the United States, it needs to be accredited by private accrediting bodies approved by the federal government, known as “accreditors,” the press release explained. Recently, legislation was signed by DeSantis that mandates colleges and universities to seek accreditation from various accrediting bodies in consecutive accreditation cycles.

Before the legislation, accrediting agencies had complete control over Florida colleges and universities and could dictate their operations by using accreditation as leverage for institutions to conform to their ideological agenda, the release noted further.

The Department of Education responded to this by issuing three “guidance documents” targeted explicitly at Florida, which included a “dear colleague letter” that reinforced the standards the agency would use to determine if an institution had “reasonable cause” to switch accreditors.

Over half of Florida’s public colleges and universities are mandated by state law to switch accreditors within the next two years. However, the ability of these institutions to do so has been significantly hindered by the Biden administration’s alleged misuse of the current accreditation system.

“The lawsuit announced today asserts that the federal government’s current accreditation scheme is plainly unlawful under the ‘private non-delegation doctrine,’ which holds that ‘federal power can be wielded only by the federal government [and] private entities may do so only if they are subordinate to an agency,’ as well as other constitutional provisions and federal laws,” the press release added.

Revealed: HBO Canceled ‘Yellowstone’ Because it was ‘So Middle America’

(TStarnes) – Taylor Sheridan, the creative force behind the hit TV series “Yellowstone,” said he pitched the show to cable giant HBO, but a network vice president told him it was “so middle America.”

“Yellowstone,” a modern Western family drama starring Kevin Costner as patriarch John Dutton, who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the U.S., is amid its fifth and final season on the Paramount Network.

Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter in a story published Wednesday that “Yellowstone” ended up in series development at HBO. He said the programming director at the time, Michael Lombardo, liked the idea but the rest of his team wasn’t onboard.

During a meeting with a senior vice president at HBO, whom Sheridan would not name, regarding the network’s reluctance in greenlighting his show, Sheridan said the person told him the show was a step backward for the network.

“We go to lunch in some snazzy place in west L..” Sheridan said. “And [“Yellowstone” co-creator] John Linson finally asks: ‘Why don’t you want to make it?’ And the VP goes: ‘Look, it just feels so middle America.

“We’re HBO, we’re avant-garde, we’re trendsetters. This feels like a step backward. And frankly, I’ve got to be honest, I don’t think anyone should be living out there [in rural Montana]. It should be a park or something.’ “

The rejection convinced Sheridan that HBO didn’t appreciate his story. During a notes call, Sheridan said executives took issue with Dutton’s ferocious daughter, Beth, played by Kelly Reilly, who is a fan favorite.

Sheridan said he was told she was too abrasive, and they wanted him to tone her down because women will not like her.

“They were wrong because Beth says the quiet part out loud every time,” Sheridan said. “When someone’s rude to you in a restaurant, or cuts you off in the parking lot, Beth says the thing you wish you’d said.”

Sheridan was in a tight spot because HBO typically retains the rights to scripts it develops and rejects, partly to prevent what ended up happening — a project it spent time and money developing becoming a global smash for a competitor.

“When the regime changed, Lombardo called me,” Sheridan said about the longtime HBO executive’s exit in 2016. “To his credit, he said, ‘I always believed in the show, but I could not get any support.’ His last act before they fired him was to give me the script back.”

Just In: Mark Zuckerberg Accepts Elon Musk’s ‘Cage Fight’ Challenge

(SNews) – Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has accepted Twitter boss Elon Musk’s challenge to a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) “cage fight.”

Musk may have been joking but Facebook founder Zuckerberg appears to have taken the offer seriously.

Zuckerberg has been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the Meta boss just won a tournament.

The back-and-forth was sparked when Zuckerberg started working on a Twitter competitor after Musk transformed his platform.

Meta’s chief product officer Chris Cox told employees the company thinks people want a version of Twitter that is “sanely run.”

While Zuckerberg said during a recent podcast interview with Lex Fridman:

“I’ve always thought that Twitter should have a billion people using it.”

This caused Musk to say he would be “up for a cage fight” with Zuckerberg.

Zuckerberg fired back by posting a screenshot of Musk’s tweet with the caption: “send me location.”

A reporter, Alex Heath, then confirmed that Zuckerberg’s post was not a joke.

“The story speaks for itself,” Meta spokesperson Iska Saric told him.

Musk responded with two words: “Vegas Octagon.”

He added, “I have this great move that I call ‘The Walrus,’ where I just lie on top of my opponent and do nothing.”

Alert: Missing Sub’s CEO Refused to Hire ’50-Year-Old White Guys’

(SNews )- OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush told an interviewer he didn’t want to hire a bunch of “50-year-old white guys” like other submarine companies.

Rush is currently missing along with the other passengers and one pilot aboard his company’s Titan submersible.

Rush, a 61-year-old white guy, said refused to hire such people to his team because he wanted his company to be “inspirational.”

“When I started the business, one of the things you’ll find, there are other sub-operators out there but they typically have gentleman who are ex-military submariners and you’ll see a whole bunch of 50-year-old white guys,” Rush told a representative of Teledyne Marine.

“I wanted our team to be younger, to be inspirational and I’m not going to inspire a 16-year-old to go pursue marine technology but a 25-year-old you know who’s a subpilot or a platform operator, or one of our techs can be inspirational.

“So we’ve really tried to get very intelligent, motivated, younger individuals involved because we’re doing things that are completely new.

“We’re taking approaches that are used largely in the aerospace industry, is related to safety and some of the preponderance of checklists things we do for risk assessments and things like that, that are more aviation related than ocean related and we can train people to do that.

“We can train someone to pilot the sub, we use a game controller so anybody can drive the sub.”

But there is some good news from the tragedy.

A Canadian aircraft searching for the missing Titan submersible detected “banging” in 30-minute intervals coming from the area the sub disappeared according to an email sent by the Department of Homeland Security’s National Operations Center

“RCC Halifax launched a P8, Poseidon, which has underwater detection capabilities from the air,” the DHS e-mails read.

“The P8 deployed sonobuoys, which reported a contact in a position close to the distress position.

“The P8 heard banging sounds in the area every 30 minutes.

“Four hours later additional sonar was deployed and banging was still heard.

“The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre is working to find an underwater remote-operated vehicle through partner organizations to possibly assist.”

The United States Coast Guard said in a statement:

“Canadian P-3 aircraft detected underwater noises in the search area. As a result, ROV operations were relocated in an attempt to explore the origin of the noises. Those ROV searches have yielded negative results but continue.

“Additionally, the data from the P-3 aircraft has been shared with our U.S. Navy experts for further analysis which will be considered in future search plans.”

The four passengers onboard with a pilot are Pakistani businessman Shahzada Dawood and his son, Suleman; French Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet; and Hamish Harding, chairman of Dubai-based Action Aviation.

The OceanGate Expeditions Titan submarine had around 40 hours of air left as of yesterday afternoon.

Rear Adm. John Mauger of the US Coast Guard said search operations are underway in an area “about the size of Connecticut” about 900 miles off the coast of Cape Cod at a depth of 13,000 feet.

“It is a challenge to conduct a search in that remote area. But we are deploying all available assets to ensure that we can locate the craft and rescue the people on board,” Mauger said at a press conference.

A day before the OceanGate Expeditions-operated sub was launched, billionaire explorer Hamish Harding sent his friend, retired NASA astronaut Col. Terry Virts, an update on his trip.

“Hey, we’re headed out tomorrow, it looks good, the weather’s been bad so they’ve been waiting for this,” Harding said via text message.

“He understood the risks for sure, there’s no doubt about that,” Virts said.

“He went down to the deepest part of the ocean, set a few world records at the Mariana Trench and we talked quite a bit about the risks and the different things that they were going to be able to do,” he added.

“So he was very excited about it.”

Harding said earlier on Instagram:

“I am proud to finally announce that I joined @oceangateexped for their RMS TITANIC Mission as a mission specialist on the sub going down to the Titanic.

“Due to the worst winter in Newfoundland in 40 years, this mission is likely to be the first and only manned mission to the Titanic in 2023.

“A weather window has just opened up and we are going to attempt a dive tomorrow.

“We started steaming from St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada yesterday and are planning to start dive operations around 4 am tomorrow morning.

“Until then we have a lot of preparations and briefings to do.

“The team on the sub has a couple of legendary explorers, some of which have done over 30 dives to the RMS Titanic since the 1980s including PH Nargeolet.”

Two other passengers have been identified.

Shahzada Dawood, 48, one of Pakistan’s wealthiest men who is worth around $340 million, and his son, Sulaiman Dawood, 19.

Breaking: Hunter Agrees to Plead Guilty

(SNews) – Democrat President Joe Biden’s son Hunter has reached a deal to plead guilty to criminal charges in tax and gun cases, multiple media outlets are reporting.

The court papers claim Biden has tentatively agreed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor tax charges of failure to pay in 2017 and 2018.

The tax liability he faces is around $1.2 million.

Prosecutors plan to recommend a sentence of probation for those counts while Biden claims he borrowed money from a friend to pay his back taxes.

Additionally, Biden will admit to illegally possessing a weapon following his 2018 purchase of a handgun while high on crack.

As part of that admission, he expects to be entered into a diversion program,

All told, Hunter will walk free with a slap on the wrist of two years probation and a diversion program.

Chris Clark, attorney for Hunter Biden said: “With the announcement of two agreements between my client, Hunter Biden, and the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware, it is my understanding that the five-year investigation into Hunter is resolved.

“Hunter will take responsibility for two instances of misdemeanor failure to file tax payments when due pursuant to a plea agreement.

“A firearm charge, which will be subject to a pretrial diversion agreement and will not be the subject of the plea agreement, will also be filed by the Government.

“I know Hunter believes it is important to take responsibility for these mistakes he made during a period of turmoil and addiction in his life. He looks forward to continuing his recovery and moving forward.”

Breaking: Federal Judge Moves To Silence Donald Trump

(TStarnes) – A federal judge issued a protective order against former President Trump Monday preventing the leading 2024 GOP contender from sharing evidence obtained in the classified documents case.

The order issued by Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart applies to Trump and his co-defendant, Walt Nauta, who is Trump’s valet, which was sought by special counsel Jack Smith.

“The Discovery Materials, along with any information derived therefrom, shall not be disclosed to the public or the news media, or disseminated on any news or social media platform, without prior notice to and consent of the United States or approval of the Court,” Reinhart said in his order.

“Defendants shall only have access to Discovery Materials under the direct supervision of Defense Counsel or a member of Defense Counsel’s staff. Defendants shall not retain copies of Discovery Material,” it added.

Failure to comply with the order could result in criminal “contempt of court or other civil or criminal sanctions.”

Trump, who denied any wrongdoing, is charged with 37 federal counts.

Alert: Biden Gets Disastrous News For His Campaign

(CBrief) – More tough news for President Joe Biden as he continues to show signs of his age.

After his disastrous appearance last week when he ended his speech with “God save the Queen,” while in Connecticut with a Queen who has been dead since last year, his poll numbers have been hit.

A new poll from DailyMail.com/J.L. Partners showed that 71 percent of Americans, including 49 percent of Democrats, believe Biden is too old to continue to be president.

The poll also showed that 52 percent of Americans believe they are in a worse position now than they were before Biden became president.

“There are few things that unite American voters, but there is one: the belief that Biden is too old to be president,” James Johnson, one of the founders of J.L. Partners, said to the DailyMail.

“Decisive margins across all age groups, ethnic groups, and political parties agree with the sentiment.

“And worryingly for the current president, those most likely to say they are worse off under Biden’s policies include groups with disproportionate impact come an election: Independent voters and 45-64 year olds,” he said.

“Though he managed to avoid his age becoming a pivotal issue in 2020, it looks set to be the defining hesitation in voters’ minds next year,” he said.

This week in Connecticut he poked some fun at his age in his speech.

“A lot of you are tired,” he said. “You’re tired. No, I get it. Try being 110 and doing it again.”

This was the same speech where he baffled the press by saying “God save the Queen.”

Biden appeared to require assistance leaving a stage on Friday after delivering a speech and ending hit with a strange statement.

Biden’s speech at the National Safety Communities Summit in Connecticut was on gun control, a favored policy among Democrats and certainly his administration. Before he left the stage, the president thanked the attendees for coming and said, “God save the queen, man.”

Presumably, he was referring to the late Queen Elizabeth II of Britain, who passed away on Sept. 8 at Balmoral Castle in Ballater, Scotland. Interestingly, Biden attended her funeral in London, while first lady Jill Biden attended the coronation of King Charles III — which means the new saying should be “God save the king.”

“But the scene became even more bizarre immediately following the gaffe. Biden seemed unaware of where he should exit, pointing at the people off-stage and asking them where he should go,” the Western Journal reported. “Eventually, an aide came up and helped him off, and Biden awkwardly jogged across the stage to make an exit.”

Just In: Insider Reveals Dems’ Plan To Take Out Biden

(CBrief) – Another political insider has expressed the increasingly popular view that the aging President Joe Biden will not be physically or mentally capable of finishing his current term, much less a second one, should he win reelection next year.

Tudor Dixon, the GOP nominee who lost a tight race to incumbent Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer last fall, told “Fox Across America With Jimmy Failla” that members of the president’s party are circling him “like vultures” because they see his political career coming to an “end” soon.

“It’s like vultures. I really think that. I was talking about this the other day. I said it’s sort of like vultures circling him, like they know that it’s close to the end. What end? I’m not sure. Is it just the end of the presidency? Is it the end of something more? I don’t know what they think, but it really feels as though we’re being duped,” she told Failla.

She also predicted that two other Democrats would enter the race for the 2024 nominee.

“Like everybody’s going, oh, you’re running against this guy with these really low poll numbers. But then it’s like, Gavin Newsom is going to come up with Gretchen Whitmer on his arm and they’re going to come out as a team, and everybody’s going to go, yeah, I really like them. They look good,” she said.

Earlier this month, a long-time political watcher and analyst said he believes that Biden won’t make it through the upcoming primaries and will have to drop out of the race.

Hugh Hewitt made his bold prediction this week after Biden fell again — this time reportedly tripping on a sandbag placed on a stage where he had given the commencement speech to the graduating Air Force Academy class in Colorado.

“Hewitt sees the race shaping up similarly to the 1968 one when then-President Lyndon Johnson told the nation he would not seek re-election after barely winning the first Democratic primary contest,” The Western Journal reported.

Biden will be 82 on inauguration day in January 2025 if he wins reelection. He would be 86 when his term ends. Several medical experts and other observers have repeatedly noted a significant decline in his physical and mental capabilities already and have suggested that the deterioration will only continue.

In an interview with Fox News’s Dana Perino, Hewitt was asked to respond to a puff piece published by The New York Times after Biden’s fall that acknowledged his age but essentially claimed he was still able to perform the duties of his office.

“I’m reminded of 1968. Lyndon Johnson was going to run for re-election,” Hewitt responded.

Johnson “went up to New Hampshire. He managed to beat [Sen.] Eugene McCarthy from Minnesota, but he was not able to beat him convincingly, and LBJ dropped out,” Hewitt noted.

Hewitt predicted: “I think you’ll see an exit in the course of the primaries because if I am a [Machiavellian], I don’t want the president dumping out if I’m a Democrat. I don’t want Vice President [Kamala] Harris commanding the field.”

He also predicted that Newsom was gearing up for a run.

“You do have [California Gov.] Gavin Newsom on the bench and warming up. He’s in the bullpen. Got a couple other Democrats out there,” Hewitt added.

In April, Steve Forbes, chairman of Forbes Media and a former GOP presidential contender, also predicted that Biden would drop out.

“Biden’s approval ratings are shriveling, and the far Left will ditch Joe Biden in order to get a candidate who has a better chance of winning next year and thereby preserving what these extremists have achieved and want to achieve,” he said on a podcast.

Breaking: American Muslims Tell Joe Biden To Shove It

(SNews) – The only Muslim-majority town in the United States has banned Pride flags from being displayed on public property.

On Tuesday, Hamtramck, Michigan’s city council unanimously voted to only allow the American flag or flags of nations with shared values.

The city’s liberals are outraged over the move, however.

Local resident Hayley Cain said she chose to live in Hamtramck for its “diversity” after moving from California.

“I’m questioning whether it is…. The pride flag represents making space for all humans on all the spectrums, and this is where we’re going as a human species,” Cain said.

“You can’t stop that.”

Dawud Walid, director of the Michigan branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said:

“If there was one group that was not being granted access to something while others were then we would have a problem.

“Flags carry symbolism.

“Those symbols carry social and political messages.”

“You guys are welcome,” council member Nayeem Choudhury said.

“But why do you have to have the flag shown on government property to be represented?

“You’re already represented.

“We already know who you are.”

Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem Mohammed Hassan said:

“Only, the American flag, and the nations’ flags that represent the international character of our City shall be flown to maintain and confirm the neutrality of the city of Hamtramck towards its residents.”

“The city does not want to open the door for radical or racist groups to ask for their flags to be flown.”
