(CBrief) – Popular Fox News host Dan Bongino got some big news after it was revealed his show reigned supreme in the ratings. A new report from Ad Week found that Bongino’s show on Saturday night was the most-watched primetime show in all of cable news.

In the 9 p.m. ET time slot, Bongino racked up 1.19 million total viewers. In the same time slot, CNN had 219,000 and MSNBC secured 315,000 total viewers. In the 8 p.m. ET time slot, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade received 1.06 million total viewers. CNN secured 282,000 total viewers and MSNBC has 282,000 in that same slot.

Bongino made headlines last month when he took time out on his nationally syndicated radio program to announce that he won’t renew his contract with Cumulus Media’s Westwood One when it comes due, effectively ending his show. Bongino, who also has a weekend show on Fox News as well as a podcast independent of the radio show, explained that the decision to walk away “really sucks because I spent a lot of time building this and I love it and it’s grown on me.”

The former NYPD officer also told listeners that the company approached him after industry giant Rush Limbaugh died following a battle with lung cancer in 2021 and asked him to take over the time slot. At the time, he said he did not feel like he could fill Limbaugh’s shoes.

“I said, ‘No, I don’t want it,’” Bongino recalled, but then added he reconsidered after he thought back to what became Limbaugh’s final broadcast.

“And I changed my mind. I said, ‘You know what? I’ll take it, but for a limited amount of time,’” he explained.

Beyond Bongino, Fox News continues to dominate cable news.

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld also received fantastic news this week after his show “Gutfeld!” has ruled late-night television, averaging 2.1 million viewers through 2022, Nielsen Media Research showed, the Washington Times reported.

“The size of that viewing audience bests both NBC’s ‘The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’ and ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ and also consistently trumps such cable rivals as Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show’ and HBO’s ‘Last Week Tonight’ and ‘Real Time With Bill Maher,’” the report said.

Vox, known to be more of a liberal news organization, opined that “The biggest comedy show on late-night right now is not on ABC or NBC or CBS or Fox. It’s not on Comedy Central. It’s certainly not streaming. It’s on Fox News, and its name is ‘Gutfeld!’”

CNN is reportedly working on its own late-night show to compete with Gutfeld, examining more progressive candidates for the job.

“Brass at the famously progressive news network have reportedly floated names such as Bill Maher, Trevor Noah, Arsenio Hall, and Jon Stewart, as candidates, to offer a nontraditional, late-night-esque take on the day’s news. Fox News has found success with ‘Gutfeld!,’ the late-night comedy show hosted by Greg Gutfeld,” the Daily Mail said.

But Gutfeld has been a ratings champion for Fox News with “The Five,” a show he cohosts, as the top show in cable news, Nielsen said.

Last month, it was reported that popular host Shannon Bream, who took over “Fox News Sunday” after Chris Wallace left the network, has increased the show’s ratings.

Her show was the only Sunday news show to increase its audience in the important, and wealthy, 25-54-year-old demographic. The ratings have increased by 13% and in the 18-49 demographic, the audience has grown by 16% over Wallace’s last show.

“It’s been an honor to join the tradition of Fox News Sunday, and we’re all about bringing new people to join us in the conversation,” she said to Washington Secrets. “It’s a privilege to be in folks’ homes every Sunday, and we’re glad they’ve found reasons to keep coming back,” she added.

Fox News Sunday on Dec. 11 had 1,107,000 viewers and 305,000 viewers ages 25-54.

While her show is up 13% with the group, This Week is down 22%, Face the Nation is down 33%, and Meet the Press is down 7%.

A White House official attacked House Republicans on Tuesday for engaging in “political stunts” over the classified documents found in President Biden’s home and former office, declining to say whether it will cooperate with congressional investigations into the issue.

“They’re faking outrage,” White House communications officer Ian Sams told reporters, pointing to Republicans’ apparent lack of dismay after highly sensitive documents were found last summer at Mar-a-Lago, the estate where Donald Trump retired after his White House term concluded.

“When it comes to Congress we intend to review and respond to oversight inquiries in good faith,” Sams said.

But “we’re going to call it out when we see rampant hypocrisy,” he added, criticizing Republicans for what he called a “total lack of credibility.”

(CBrief) – Kari Lake, the former Republican candidate for governor of Arizona, may have a path to be elected as a senator from the state. A recent poll showed that the firebrand Republican would defeat sitting Independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and her possible Democrat challenger Ruben Gallego.

“The survey, released January 11 by the website Blueprint Polling, imagined a scenario in which Sinema, a former Democrat turned independent who’s held her Senate seat since 2019, runs for reelection against Lake and Gallego, a Democrat who represents the state’s 3rd Congressional District. Lake, who rumors say is considering running for the seat but has not confirmed this, polled at 36 percent, according to Blueprint, well ahead of the two rivals. Gallego trailed closely with 32 percent, while Sinema ran a distant third with 14 percent,” Newsweek reported.

The poll said that in a three-way contest, one of six voters surveyed was undecided, which could assist Sen. Sinema in keeping her position.

Since leaving the Democrat Party last month Sen. Sinema has gained support from Republican and Democrat voters and, the poll said that her best chance to stay in the Senate “may be for the Republican party to nominate a candidate so flawed that moderate and conservative voters would abandon that person for the Independent Sinema.”

Sinema officially left the Democratic Party in December and changed her affiliation to the Independent. Her move weakens Democrats’ already tenuous hold on the upper chamber. Prior to her announcement, Democrats had a 51-50 majority in the U.S. Senate.

In a guest column for the Arizona Republic, Sinema slammed “partisanship” and the stranglehold it has on both major parties. Sinema, who is up for re-election in 2024, said she will continue to caucus with Democrats.

“Everyday Americans are increasingly left behind by national parties’ rigid partisanship, which has hardened in recent years,” Sinema wrote. “Pressures in both parties pull leaders to the edges, allowing the loudest, most extreme voices to determine their respective parties’ priorities and expecting the rest of us to fall in line. In catering to the fringes, neither party has demonstrated much tolerance for diversity of thought,” she wrote. “Bipartisan compromise is seen as a rarely acceptable last resort, rather than the best way to achieve lasting progress. Payback against the opposition party has replaced thoughtful legislating.”

“There’s a disconnect between what everyday Americans want and deserve from our politics, and what political parties are offering. (CBrief) – The family of an American who has been locked up in a horrid United Arab Emirates prison for 15 years and is reportedly near death has torn into the Biden administration for ignoring their pleas for help after the White House went out of its way to negotiate the release of WNBA player Brittney Griner from Russian custody.

According to Fox News, Zack Shahin was imprisoned in 2008 and is “now on his deathbed in Dubai,” the capital of the UAE, but the family says no one in the administration is doing anything to help him, even though the UAE helped facilitate Griner’s release.

“I feel like the fact that the United Arab Emirates helped broker the deal for Griner’s release was kind of a slap in the face to my family and I,” Zack’s son, Ramy Shahin, told Fox News morning show co-host Rachel Campos Duffy on Sunday. “And they gave my father’s case… not an ounce of respect.”

“He’s an American citizen that’s been abandoned by the Biden administration as well as the State Department,” he noted further. “Nobody has answered our plea for help, and then seeing Brittney Griner get all the attention… maybe we’re not famous enough. We’re just an ordinary American family, and they completely ignored us.”

Zack Shahin was arrested during a business meeting in 2008 and charged with fraud. He was tried and subsequently convicted, being sentenced to more than 50 years behind bars in horrible conditions. His family has said he is innocent, however.

Family members told the weekend morning show that Zack is currently fighting for his life and has been in a hospital for the past three months. He has undergone a several surgical procedures including amputations and is continuing to fight off an infection. The family said that he has had portions of his body cut away as the infection has been spreading.

(CBrief) – House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan announced a new probe on Friday into President Joe Biden following revelations that he was in possession of Obama-era classified documents, potentially in violation of federal law governing such materials.

In a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, the Ohio Republican noted that it was his committee’s responsibility to conduct such “oversight” and added that he expected the Justice Department to cooperate. The Judiciary probe follows another by Rep. James Comer’s Oversight Committee investigation into the matter, as well as that of a special counsel appointed by Garland last week.

“On January 12, 2023, you appointed Robert Hur as Special Counsel to investigate these matters,” Jordan and Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) wrote. “The circumstances of this appointment raise fundamental oversight questions that the Committee routinely examines. We expect your complete cooperation with our inquiry.”

In the letter, Jordan also raised questions about the timing of the document disclosure earlier this month after learning that the first batch was discovered at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C., just days before the midterm elections.

“It is unclear when the Department first came to learn about the existence of these documents, and whether it actively concealed this information from the public on the eve of the 2022 elections,” the two lawmakers wrote.

“It is also unclear what interactions, if any, the Department had with President Biden or his representatives about his mishandling of classified material. The Department’s actions here appear to depart from how it acted in similar circumstances,” the letter continued.

In addition, the chairman ripped Garland for approving an FBI raid on the Mar-a-Lago home of former President Donald Trump to retrieve classified documents the government knew well in advance that he had, but not authorizing a similar raid against Biden’s home in Delaware, where additional documents have been found as well.

“In fact, on August 8, 2022, despite the publicly available evidence of President Trump’s voluntary cooperation, you personally approved the decision to seek a warrant for excessive and unprecedented access to his private residence. On August 15, 2022, Committee Republicans wrote to you and FBI Director Christopher Wray requesting documents and information related to the FBI’s raid of President Trump’s residence,” the letter noted.

Garland has been briefed a number of times about the ongoing investigation into the matter by Chicago-based U.S. Attorney John Lausch Jr., one of the few holdovers from the presidency of Trump. Lausch, the attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, was appointed by Trump in November 2017.

“The documents were not the subject of any previous request or inquiry by the Archives,” Richard Sauber, special counsel to the White House, said in a Monday statement, according to Fox News. “Since that discovery, the President’s personal attorneys have cooperated with the Archives and the Department of Justice in process to ensure that any Obama-Biden Administration records are appropriately in the possession of the Archives.”

The discovery echoes revelations last year that Trump had housed a trove of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago home after leaving office. The FBI ultimately raided his residence to recover some 300 classified documents.

Trump himself was quick to make the comparison on social media Monday, and a number of other Republicans called for more information about the Biden documents.

“Why didn’t the ‘Justice’ Department announce the Highly Classified documents found in the Biden Office before the Election?” Trump asked on his Truth Social platform.

“Biden’s documents are HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL, many pertain to UKRAINE, where Hunter was ‘raking in the dough,’ and FUNDED BY CHINA, which gave $55 Million to Biden, through Penn, and probably had easy access,” he noted further.

Donald Trump Jr. also asked, “When will the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team storm one of Biden’s many vacation homes bought and paid for somehow by a lifetime of being a humble public servant?”

Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-Texas), who served as White House physician during part of Trump’s administration, also asked similar questions.

“It’s just been discovered that Biden had HIGHLY CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS that were improperly stored in one of his private offices. INCREDIBLE! WHERE is the FBI? WHERE is the dramatic raid? We have two systems of justice in this country: one for them and one for us,” he wrote on Truth Social.

(CBrief) – White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has an unenviable job currently, but her responses are not earning her any sympathy.

On Friday she snapped at reporters who confronted her over the classified documents scandal surrounding President Joe Biden.

CBS News Radio reporter Steven Portnoy took issue with the press secretary’s claim that the Biden administration had been “transparent” on the classified document scandal.

“So there’s nothing here, different here. We have said we wanted to restore the independence of the Department of Justice, and that is what you’re seeing. And again, we this has been done in a transparent way when it relates to how this was dealt with, with the Department of Justice and the Archives,” the press secretary said.

“The president takes this very, very seriously. Any other questions that you may have about this particular issue? About the review, I would refer you to Department of Justice. You guys have been in touch with my colleagues at the White House Counsel office, and I would suggest that you continue to reach out. Go ahead, Steve. Thanks,” she said.

Portnoy followed that explanation with a question of his own that the press secretary did not appear to appreciate.

“I just want to push on that point about the idea of disclosures when it’s appropriate. You describe a process, but it sort of feels like a strategy, a communications strategy to protect the president from political damage. Was it the hope and expectation here that this would have remained a private matter and not have been subject to public disclosure?” he said.

“Look, Steven, that’s your version of the case. I’ve been very clear here and I’ve answered that question multiple times in different versions, right, in the last couple of days,” she snapped.

(CBrief) – Some Democrats want to create a Constitutional amendment to allow 16-year-olds to vote. Democrat New York Rep. Grace Meng introduced legislation that would eliminate the 26th Amendment to the Constitution which says that United States citizens have to be a minimum of 18 years old to vote, Fox News reported.

“The right of citizens of the United States, who are sixteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age,” the new legislation says.

The representative has not issued a press release on her current proposal, but she did when she prosed similar legislation in February 2021.

“Our young people, including 16- and 17-year-olds, continue to fight and advocate for so many issues that they are passionate about from gun safety to the climate crisis,” she said. “They have been tremendously engaged on policies affecting their lives and their futures. Their activism, determination, and efforts to demand change are inspirational and have truly impacted our nation. It’s time to give them a voice in our democracy by permitting them to be heard at the ballot box. 16- and 17-year-olds are legally permitted to work and drive. They also pay federal income taxes. I believe that it is right and fair to also allow them to vote. Let’s let them be heard and make their voices count. Let’s give them a say in choosing who they want their government representatives to be. I’m proud to stand with our young people in introducing this legislation, and I urge my colleagues in the House to support it.”

(SNews) – Democrat President Joe Biden faced tough questions from the media over reports of his mishandling of classified data, especially from Fox News’s Peter Doocy.

Biden was forced to deliver a statement on the classified documents during a Thursday press conference.

Classified documents have now been found in Biden’s DC think tank and at one of his Delaware homes.

As Slay News reported earlier, the second batch of sensitive files was found in the garage of Biden’s Delaware residence, stacked up next to his Corvette.

President Donald Trump is under criminal investigation for allegedly mishandling documents and for obstructing the feds.

However, the discovery of documents in Biden’s possession is from his time as vice president, meaning he had different powers than Trump regarding classified material.

Biden came clean to the media today to try to spin away his case and keep the criminal case against Trump alive.

However, Doocy ended the president’s gaslighting when he called out and flustered Biden.

Doocy: “Classified materials next to your corvette? What were you thinking?”

Biden: “I’m going to get a chance to speak on all of this, god-willing, soon.

“My Corvette’s in a locked garage, okay?

“So, it’s not like they’re sitting out on the street.”

Biden then turned to his script for help but the damage was done.

(SNews) – Harvard Medical School is now offering new a course about providing sex-change treatments for “infants.”

The course is titled “Caring for Patients with Diverse Sexual Orientations, Gender Identities, and Sex Development.”

“Clinical exposure and education will focus on serving gender and sexual minority people across the lifespan, from infants to older adults,” the course description states.

The elective includes “partnerships and clinical experiences at Harvard Medical School hospitals and within community settings, including clinical experiences at Boston Children’s Hospital.”

The four-week course is held mainly at Massachusetts General Hospital, it is available full-time every month.

According to a report from The College Fix, the two directors of the course, Alex Keuroghlian and Alberto Puig, work for Massachusetts General.

Keuroghlian is also a psychiatrist at the Fenway Health Center and a “woke” activist pushing children to undergo life-altering transgender surgeries.

He published research in 2021 that claims so-called “gender-affirming care” led to better mental health outcomes among transgender children.

Keuroghlian also attacked Texas Governor Greg Abbott last year for trying to protect children from the practice.

“This elective is a four-week multidisciplinary clinical-and-scholarly experience that trains students to provide high-quality, culturally responsive care for patients with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and sex development,” the course description explains.

“Many of these patients identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, or asexual (LGBTQIA+).”

“Students will work with multidisciplinary teams in a variety of clinical settings and specialties, including but not limited to Adolescent Medicine, Endocrinology, Family Practice, Infectious Disease, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Psychology, Primary Medical Care, and Plastic Surgery,” it adds.

“They will be immersed in clinical practices committed to promoting health and resiliency for gender and sexual minority communities.”

In addition to Massachusetts General and Harvard Medical School, the course also offers “partnerships and clinical experiences” at Boston Children’s Hospital.

BCH has previously stoked controversy by offering various “gender-affirming” care for minors.

As Slay News previously reported, a doctor at BCH claimed in a video put out by the hospital that some transgender patients know their gender identity “as early as seemingly from the womb.”

“They will usually express their gender identity as very young children, some as soon as they can talk, they might say phrases such as ‘I’m a girl’ or ‘I’m a boy’ or ‘I’m going to be a woman’ or ‘I’m going to be a mom,’” Dr. Kerry McGregor, a psychologist at BCH’s Gender Multispecialty Service clinic, claims in the video.

“Kids know very, very early.”

The clinic serves patients as young as age 2 or 3 years old, McGregor also said.

Besides BCH, the course allows students to work at the Cambridge Health Alliance, the Harvard-affiliated Fenway Health Center, Boston Health Care for the Homeless, and other healthcare organizations that serve the LGBT community.

The course also pushes transgender research on students who take it.

“At the beginning of the elective, each medical student will receive an updated packet of foundational and current peer-reviewed articles in the area of gender and sexual minority health, to ground their clinical experience in relevant basic science and evidence-based practice,” the course description reads.

The course is part of Harvard Medical School’s Sexual and Gender Minority Health Equity Initiative.

The initiative seeks to “foster excellence caring for patients with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, and sex development.”
