JUST IN: Mitch McConnell Survives GOP REVOLT

(SNews) – Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) has survived a revolt from other Republicans and won the vote to remain the Senate minority leader.

Senate Republicans voted Wednesday for the GOP leadership role after Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), the National Republican Senatorial Committee chairman, challenged McConnell.

McConnell received 37 votes while Scott received just 10 votes.

One senator voted present.

Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Senate Republican Conference Chairman John Barrasso (R-WY) nominated McConnell to serve another two years as GOP leader.

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) demanded a change in leadership and nominated Scott.

“We collectively I think had a good discussion about what happened in the election and what happens in the next election,” McConnell said.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve.”

He said earlier: “Every one of our candidates knew what they were for, expressed it quite clearly.

“It’s pretty obvious, and all of you have been writing about it, what happened.

“We underperformed among independents and moderates because their impression of many of the people in our party in leadership roles is that they’re involved in chaos, negativity, excessive attacks, and it frightened independent and moderate Republican voters,”

In a recent interview, 2024 GOP presidential candidate President Donald Trump said:

“I think Rick Scott would be much better than McConnell.

“I know McConnell well. I guess probably better than most.

“I’m not a fan of McConnell and I am a fan of Rick Scott, and you have others in there that would be very good.”

According to Axios:

Sen. John Thune of South Dakota was reelected as minority whip.

Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming was reelected as conference chair.

Sen. Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia was elected vice conference chair.

Sen. Steve Daines of Montana was elected to replace Scott as chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC).

BREAKING: Marjorie Taylor Greene HUMILIATES Liz Cheney

(SNews) – Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has humiliated Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) by thanking her challenger Harriet Hageman for “kicking” the outgoing congresswoman’s “a**”

Greene put soon-to-be ex-Wyoming rep in her place after Cheney gloated over Kari Lake’s loss in Arizona.

Cheney campaigned for Arizona’s Democrat gubernatorial candidate Katie Hobbs, causing Lake to say:

“Dear Liz, Thank you for your generous in-kind contribution to my campaign.

“Your recent television ad urging Arizonans not to vote for me is doing just the opposite.

“In fact, my team tells me your commercial should add another 10 points to our lead!

“I guess that’s why they call the Cheney anti-endorsement the gift that keeps on giving.

“Thank you again for the huge boost to our campaign.

“Our campaign donations are skyrocketing and our website nearly crashed from traffic as people rushed to learn more about my plan to put Arizona First and join our historic movement.”

After the race was called for Hobbs on Monday night, Cheney gloated:

“You’re welcome, @KariLake.”

Enter Marjorie Taylor Greene to remind Cheney who’s boss:

“I just want to thank [Harriet Hageman] for kicking your a**.

“I’m really enjoying getting to know her this week.

“You’re welcome.”

After beating Cheney in the GOP primary, Trump-endorsed Hageman stormed to victory in her U.S. House race in Wyoming, winning with almost 70% of the vote.

Meanwhile, it’s now expected that Lake’s gubernatorial race will go to a recount, per Arizona law.

According to Fox News:

The Fox News Decision Desk can project that Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs will be the next governor of Arizona.

She defeats GOP candidate and former local news host Kari Lake.

Per Arizona law, the race may go to a recount.

Lake is a former TV news anchor who stepped down last year after 22 years with the Fox affiliate in Phoenix to run for governor.

Thanks in part to her strong support for former President Trump and his unproven claims that the 2020 election was “stolen” and rigged,” Trump endorsed and heavily backed Lake as she narrowly won the GOP nomination over a candidate backed by term-limited GOP Gov. Doug Ducey.

Lake highlighted her “common sense conservatism” as she centered her campaign on the issues of border security, homelessness, banning critical race theory in Arizona classrooms, support for school choice, and opposition to abortion.

BOMBSHELL: CEO Admits Laundering Money for Ukraine Government

(SNews) – The CEO of FTX has admitted that his now-bankrupt cryptocurrency company was laundering money for the Ukraine government.

As Slay News reported over the weekend, FTX was caught laundering tens of billions of dollars through Ukraine and funneling funds back to Democrats in the United States.

FTX founder and CEO Sam Bankman-Fried was reportedly the Democrats’ second largest donor during the midterm elections cycle this year, only coming behind George Soros.

Bankman-Fried gave at least $40 million to Democrat candidates and causes in the midterms.

Now a video has emerged of Bankman-Fried admitting that his company served as a laundromat for the Ukrainian government.

WATCH:

Calls are now mounting for a full audit and investigation into the U.S. taxpayer money that Democrats sent to Ukraine.

Questions are being raised about how much of the billions in tax dollars flowing into Ukraine was laundered through FTX and pumped back to Democrats and elites in America using cryptocurrency.

30-year-old Bankman-Fried resigned from FTX on Friday, as the crypto exchange filed for bankruptcy.

FTX imploded after reports emerged that up to $2 billion in client funds had vanished from the company’s books in recent weeks.

According to Coin Telegraph, the disgraced former CEO is holed up at the Albany Tower in the Bahamas alongside FTX co-founder Gary Wang and the company’s director of engineering Nishad Singh.

The report adds that Bankman-Fried is planning to escape to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, a country with no extradition treaties, as the walls close in around him.

Meanwhile, all of the money has gone, FTX has imploded and filed for bankruptcy, and Bankman-Fried is on the run from authorities.

BOMBSHELL: Top Border Patrol Official QUITS

(CBrief) – Chris Magnus, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, has resigned before being fired.

The White House announced that President Joe Biden had accepted his resignation in a press release on Saturday.

“The President has accepted the resignation of Christopher Magnus, the Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. President Biden appreciates Commissioner Magnus’ nearly forty years of service and the contributions he made to police reform during his tenure as police chief in three U.S. cities. The President thanks Mr. Magnus for his service at CBP and wishes him well,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said.

Magnus said he was resigning “immediately” in the letter that was shared by the White House.

“Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your Senate confirmed Commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection over the past year. It has been a privilege and honor to be part of your administration,” he said. “I am submitting my resignation effective immediately but wish you and your administration the very best going forward. Thank you again for this tremendous opportunity.”

Fox News reported:

Magnus was told to resign or be fired by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, according to a government source.

Afterward, Magnus emailed senior Customs and Border Protection staff, stating that he’s determined to remain on the job.

“I want to make this clear: I have no plans to resign as CBP Commissioner. I didn’t take this job as a resume builder. I came to Washington, DC— moved my family here— because I care about this agency, its mission, and the goals of this Administration,” the email obtained by Fox News states.

His resignation comes after a record-breaking year for the number of migrants attempting to enter the United States through the southern border.

But Mayorkas may be attempting to get the heat off of himself.

In April House Minority Leader and California Rep. Kevin McCarthy said that the impeachment of one of President Joe Biden’s top officials is a real possibility if Republicans take back the House in the Fall.

The leader made the comments about Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during a trip to the Southern border with other Congressional Republicans on Monday.

Mayorkas is set to testify before the House this week three times, on Wednesday and Thursday, The Hill reported.

“What’s more important than something that happened 15 months ago on a private conversation with about four other people is what’s happening here right now,” he said, in reference to leaked audio of his negative comments about former President Donald Trump after January 6, 2021.

“This is his moment in time to do his job. But at any time if someone is derelict in their job, there is always the option of impeaching somebody,” he said of the Homeland Security Secretary.

“But right now, he’s got 30 days. His first response to us should be, ‘We should not lift Title 42,’ ” he said. “They’re not prepared to protect, and we cannot sustain what will happen to this nation.”

On Monday a federal judge temporarily block the Biden administration from ending Title 42, a program that hastened deportations during the COVID pandemic.

“The Court discussed the Motion for Temporary Restraining Order [ECF No. 24] filed by Plaintiffs. For the reasons stated on the record, the Court announced its intent to grant the motion. The parties will confer regarding the specific terms to be contained in the Temporary Restraining Order and attempt to reach agreement,” Judge Robert Summerhays said, granting the motion of the more than 20 states who argued against ending the public health authority, CNN reported.

“We applaud the Court for approving our request for a Temporary Restraining Order to keep Title 42 in place,” Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich said. “The Biden administration cannot continue in flagrant disregard for existing laws and required administrative procedures.”

“In a lawsuit originally filed by Missouri, Louisiana, and Arizona, our Office just obtained a temporary restraining order to keep Title 42 in place. This is a huge victory for border security, but the fight continues on,” Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt said.

BREAKING: RNO GOP Leadership On The Verge of Being REMOVED

(CBrief) – Senate Minority Leader, Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell, and House Minority Leader and California Rep. Kevin McCarthy are in a jam and their dreams of staying party leaders are in jeopardy.

Republicans are still likely to win a tiny majority in the House, not the red wave they expected, but what was considered a forgone conclusion a month ago, Rep. McCarthy becoming Speaker, is in danger.

A letter asking to postpone leadership elections was circulated among members by some high profile lawmakers, including Sens. Ron Johnson, Mike Lee and Rick Scott, Politico reported.

“We need to have serious discussions within our conference as to why and what we can do to improve our chances in 2024,” they said. “Holding leadership elections without hearing from the candidates as to how they will perform their leadership duties and before we know whether we will be in the majority or even who all our members are violates the most basic principles of a democratic process. It is certainly not the way leadership elections should be conducted in the world’s greatest deliberative body.”

It could also mean that Sen. McConnell may not remain as the Senate Majority Leader.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio also called for the leadership elections to be postponed.

“The Senate GOP leadership vote next week should be postponed First we need to make sure that those who want to lead us are genuinely committed to fighting for the priorities & values of the working Americans (of every background) who gave us big wins in states like #Florida,” he said.

Texas Rep. Chip Roy penned a piece for The Washington Examiner in which he criticized the Republican Party leadership.

“The House ‘leadership’ play, from top to bottom, was to offer an eleventh-hour, tepid, and weak ‘Commitment to America,’ which few people knew about, much less cared about, and which said both everything and nothing,” he said. “Perhaps well-intentioned to involve rank-and-file members through ‘task forces,’ the leadership failed to produce the kind of concrete plan and bold strategy the moment required.”

McCarthy could have issues as the House Freedom Caucus has threatened to withhold its votes unless he gives them some concessions, the Washington Examiner reported. That has prompted one Republican Representative, Arizona Rep. Ruben Gallego, of suggesting that Rep. McCarthy speak to Democrats and attempt to get some of their votes.

“Just cut a deal with the Dems Kevin. Whatever you get from Freedom Caucus will not be worth it. The odds will be good but the goods will be odd,” he said.

With the Freedom Caucus having played a key role in pushing former Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) to step down and demanding changes to the motion to vacate the chair to ease the process of ousting a sitting speaker, one Democratic member argued that a McCarthy speakership may have more staying power if he doesn’t strike a deal with his conservative critics.

“If he asks, [it could be a possibility]. Either you can be speaker for two years and go cash out on Wall Street or be speaker for three months and get pushed out by the Freedom Caucus,” one lawmaker said, adding that the specific demands that could be made that would be palatable enough to get the Democrats on board are “above my pay grade, but that is what I would do.”

The member added that they believe McCarthy is “so vapid and desperate for power” they could likely extract a lot out of the California Republican.

“Won’t know that until the dust settles, the margin is determined, and how badly McCarthy needs some Dem support. Anything is possible,” another Congressperson said. “Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades, not in speakership races.”

One progressive Congressmember said that a deal with Rep. McCarthy could be possible if the alternative was a more extreme Republican as Speaker.

“I doubt it, but I guess if the alternative is [Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA)], could be possible. I think it’d be more about the alternative than anything he could give,” the member said.
