Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) strongly criticized the “MAGA SCOTUS” on Monday following the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in favor of former President Donald Trump in his dispute with January 6th prosecutors. Trump is currently facing charges in Washington, D.C., filed by Special Counsel Jack Smith regarding his actions on January 6, 2021, during the Capitol riots. He contended that he should be shielded from prosecution for his official duties.
According to Breitbart News, the Court determined that presidents are completely immune from criminal prosecution for official duties, but not for unofficial actions, and sent the case back to the trial court for further examination.
Schumer and other Democrats expressed their dismay over the 6-3 decision, with the conservative majority led by Chief Justice John Roberts. Schumer took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize the three justices appointed by Trump:
This disgraceful decision by the MAGA SCOTUS—which is comprised of 3 justices appointed by Trump himself—enables the former President to weaken our democracy by breaking the law.
It undermines SCOTUS's credibility and suggests political influence trumps all in our courts today. https://t.co/wCNI42U5Ki

Chumer has a track record of attempting to intimidate the Supreme Court justices, particularly in 2020, when he warned two recently appointed justices that there would be consequences if they decided to overturn Roe v. Wade, which they eventually did. The case is Trump v. United States, No. 23-939 in the Supreme Court of the United States.
