A passenger aircraft met with disaster in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Friday, as reported by The Associated Press (AP), referencing local media outlets.
The aircraft was designed to accommodate numerous passengers; however, the exact number of individuals on board at the time of the incident remains unclear, according to the AP. Voepass airlines released a statement in Portuguese indicating that there were 61 individuals on flight 2283, all of whom perished at the crash site. This total included 57 passengers and four crew members. The aircraft involved was an ATR-72 propeller-driven model. Initially, the airline had stated that the flight was carrying 62 people.
GloboNews, a Brazilian news organization, shared a video on social media depicting smoke billowing in the distance and offered an initial estimate of the number of individuals who were on the flight.
