ABC Cuts Mic of Trump-BackinRepublican Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH), a known supporter of President Donald Trump, was abruptly interrupted during an interview with ABC News while discussing his stance on reducing the administrative state. In an episode of ABC’s “This Week,” Senator Vance engaged in a heated exchange with the program’s host, George Stephanopoulos, who is often criticized for his biased reporting.
According to a report from The Western Journal, the interview took a confrontational turn when Stephanopoulos played a clip from a 2021 podcast interview where Vance discussed the possibility of Trump returning to the presidency.
During the interview, Senator Vance suggested that if Trump faced opposition from the administrative state and the Supreme Court, he should consider replacing mid-level bureaucrats with his own appointees and, if necessary, challenge the court’s rulings.
Stephanopoulos, a former adviser to the Clinton White House and a prominent figure in the corporate media, challenged Vance on his statements.
The host repeatedly attempted to distort Vance’s words by making false claims about what the senator had actually said. Stephanopoulos questioned Vance on whether he believed it was acceptable for the president to defy the Supreme Court.
At this point, the exchange became heated, with Stephanopoulos frequently interrupting Vance as he tried to explain his perspective on the matter. Vance argued that his concern was with the unchecked growth of an administrative state that lacked accountability to the American public and elected officials.
However, Stephanopoulos twisted Vance’s argument and abruptly ended the interview, cutting off his microphone and thanking him for his time. The sudden conclusion to the interview visibly frustrated Vance, and his objections could still be heard despite ABC’s editing.
