Dordt University, located in Iowa, has cleverly outmaneuvered former President Trump.
The university has decided to cancel the Trump rally that was originally planned to take place in Sioux Center next week. This unexpected cancellation comes merely 10 days before the Iowa caucus.
State Representative Jeff Taylor, who is also a faculty member at the university, has confirmed to KELO, a television station, that the decision to not host Trump was made by the university administrators.
“Iowa state representative and Dordt faculty member Dr. Jeff Taylor confirmed that he had been working as a liaison between the university and the Trump campaign. Taylor said the decision to not host the Trump event was made last Friday by Dordt administrators,” the television station reported.
The university has also verified with me that Trump will not be making any further appearances on campus.
“The Trump campaign started the process of lining up a campaign stop but desired a rally format. Dordt understood that President Trump’s visit would not be publicized until the format was finalized after the new year,” they wrote in a prepared statement. “Ultimately, the vision of the Trump campaign and Dordt were incongruent, and the event will not take place at the university.”
It is quite surprising that they seem unaware of the fact that Trump’s main activity is hosting rallies. Did they actually anticipate him to organize a small gathering in the faculty lounge? Such a notion is absurd!
What is particularly interesting is that Dordt has previously organized events featuring Nikki Haley, Gov. Ron DeSantis, and Vivek Ramaswamy.
According to The Iowa Standard, the school has a history of engaging in anti-Trump activism. They have identified specific staff members who they claim have transformed the traditionally conservative college into an extremely liberal institution.
One professor even went as far as to state that Trump lacks the moral qualifications to hold the position of president.
According to the university’s website, Dordt is affiliated with the Christian Reformed Church. It is rather contradictory to claim to follow Christian values and then criticize Trump so harshly.
“Trump will get something else scheduled,” one of my listeners said. “Survive and thrive is what he does. This won’t bring him down.”
