(CBrief) – Massive information from Arizona shows that there was a discrepancy of around 16,000 votes between the secretary of state’s office and Maricopa County.

“Prior to a Maricopa County press conference with Board of Supervisors Chair Bill Gates and Recorder Stephen Richer on Nov. 10, Richer sent an email to Elections Director Scott Jarrett, Gates and others about a significant discrepancy between the county’s estimated remaining ballot totals and the number reported by the secretary of state’s office,” Just The News reported.

“Unable to currently reconcile SOS listing with our estimates from yesterday,” the recorder said as he showed that Maricopa County said it had approximately 392,000 ballots left to be counted, but the secretary of state’s website said the number was 407,664 ballots.

“So there’s a 15,000 difference somewhere,” he said. But the number was closer to 16,000.

Democrat Katie Hobbs defeated Republican Kari Lake by around 17,000 votes.

In an email forwarded to Jarrett by the chief of staff for Board of Supervisors Vice Chairman Clint Hickman, a poll worker said that at their vote center, the ballot tabulators worked 75% of the time, as approximately 400 of 1600 in-person votes were “misreads and put in slot 3.”

“Ballots were put in the tabulator several times to get accepted,” the poll worker reported. “Ballots were flipped, put in backwards, flipped again before it might get accepted.”

The poll worker further reported that a voter who recently moved between cities within the state received a ballot for only federal elections, not state elections.

“Totally unacceptable,” the poll worker commented.

“These errors need to be resolved,” the poll worker concluded.

A judge in Arizona has handed Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake a win over the declared winner in the race, Democratic Secretary of State Katie Hobbs. On Friday, the Maricopa County judge granted Lake’s request to inspect ballots as her legal contesting of the November election continues.

Reports noted that Judge Peter Thompson signed off on three out of four requests made by Lake via her legal team to review 50 random “ballot on demand” printed ballots cast on Election Day, as well as another 50 early ballots cast from “six separate Maricopa County batches,” and another 50 random ballot-on-demand printed ballots that were marked as spoiled.

However, Thompson rejected a request from Lake to inspect 50 randomly selected early ballot envelopes.

Townhall reported that the ballot inspections are to commence on Tuesday.

Lake’s team praised the ruling. Last week, Lake remarked that “if the process was illegitimate then so are the results.” She has yet to concede to Hobbs, though state officials, including her own office, have certified her as the winner by about 17,000 votes.

“I am thankful to Judge Peter Thompson and his team for the work they do and we are confident that given the opportunity, we will expose this election for the sham it was,” Lake said in a statement.

Earlier this week, Lake provided an update to former White House strategist Steve Bannon about her lawsuit on his top-rated Real America’s Voice podcast.

Andy Gaona, who represented the Secretary of State’s Office, asked the judge on Tuesday to keep the case on a short schedule in hopes that it will be dismissed quickly.

“Essentially a one-day hearing should give the plaintiffs the opportunity to make whatever case they believe they have, a case we believe is nonexistent,” Gaona said during Tuesday’s virtual hearing.

Gaona told the judge that Hobbs is set to be sworn in as governor in early January and that allowing the lawsuit to run too long will disrupt the peaceful transition of power. Arizona’s current GOP Gov. Doug Ducey has been term-limited.

Bryan Blehm, an attorney representing Lake, asked the judge for more time to work through arguments.

“This is a pretty significant factual hearing, your honor,” Blehm said.

“Judge Peter Thompson said he did have some concerns about timing. He scheduled two hours on Monday for oral arguments for the motions to dismiss and set a two-day hearing scheduled for later next week. There appears to be major interest in the case. Tuesday’s hearing was delayed by about half an hour because so many members of the public were trying to log into the virtual courtroom,” KJZZ reported.

Maricopa County spokesman Fields Moseley said that the courts are the appropriate place to handle such claims and that Maricopa’s election division “looks forward to sharing facts about the administration of the 2022 General Election and our work to ensure every legal voter had an opportunity to cast their ballot,” Reuters reported.

Lake believes her lawsuit will prevail and said she’s willing to “take it all the way to the Supreme Court” if necessary.

“We’re ready to go with what we believe to be an exceptional lawsuit. And we believe we will be victorious in that lawsuit,” Lake told Steve Bannon on the War Room podcast. “We’ll take it all the way to the Supreme Court if we have to. We will not stop fighting.”

(CBrief) – Twitter CEO Elon Musk and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) sparred on the platform after he suspended journalists from major outlets over a rules violation. Musk took action against reporters from the Washington Post, New York Times, and CNN for posting what he called “assassination coordinates.”

Fox News reported Friday that the New York Democrat was among a host of others who criticized Musk’s suspension of the left-leaning journos, accusing him of an “abuse of power” while imploring him to “lay off the proto-fascism.”

Musk responded by pointing out the journalists violated a new Twitter policy of posting real-time location information.

“Take a beat and lay off the proto-fascism. Maybe try putting down your phone,” AOC — who is a prolific social media user — told Musk in a tweet quoting one of his posts.

“They posted my exact real-time location, basically assassination coordinates, in (obvious) direct violation of Twitter terms of service,” Musk wrote Thursday.

“Accounts engaged in doxxing receive a temporary 7 day suspension,” he added.

Fox News reported that he also defended his decision in a Twitter Spaces conference call.

Musk added: “Criticizing me all day long is totally fine, but doxxing my real-time location and endangering my family is not.”

(SNews) – A new study has claimed that unvaccinated drivers are more likely to be involved in traffic accidents, suggesting that they should pay higher rates of insurance.

The new study was published in The American Journal of Medicine and seeks to lay out the case for penalizing the unvaccinated.

People who have refused the Covid vaccine are likely to “neglect basic road safety guidelines,” the study claims.

The author of the study suggests that insurance companies should use the findings to charge unvaccinated drivers higher premiums.

“The findings are significant enough that primary care doctors should consider counseling unvaccinated patients on traffic safety—and insurance companies might base changes to insurance policies on vaccination data, the authors suggest,” according to Fortune.

Or at least those are the findings of a new study published this month in The American Journal of Medicine. During the summer of 2021, Canadian researchers examined the encrypted government-held records of more than 11 million adults, 16% of whom hadn’t received the COVID vaccine.

They found that the unvaccinated people were 72% more likely to be involved in a severe traffic crash—in which at least one person was transported to the hospital—than those who were vaccinated. That’s similar to the increased risk of car crashes for people with sleep apnea, though only about half that of people who abuse alcohol, researchers found.

The excess risk of car crash posed by unvaccinated drivers “exceeds the safety gains from modern automobile engineering advances and also imposes risks on other road users,” the authors wrote.

Of course, skipping a COVID vaccine does not mean that someone will get into a car crash. Instead, the authors theorize that people who resist public health recommendations might also “neglect basic road safety guidelines.”

Why would they ignore the rules of the road? Distrust of the government, a belief in freedom, misconceptions of daily risks, “faith in natural protection,” “antipathy toward regulation,” poverty, misinformation, a lack of resources, and personal beliefs are potential reasons proposed by the authors.

First responders may also consider taking precautions to protect themselves from COVID when responding to traffic crashes, the authors added, as it’s more likely that a driver is unvaccinated than vaccinated.

“The findings suggest that unvaccinated adults need to be careful indoors with other people and outside with surrounding traffic,” the authors concluded.

Expected incoming House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan believes there’s been a seismic shift regarding the ongoing federal investigation of President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden.

In an interview on Fox News with host Sean Hannity, the Ohio Republican suggested “something is up” with the probe because of a new interest in the story by many of the same media outlets that initially dismissed reports of corruption evidence stemming from materials and emails obtained from a laptop he reportedly abandoned at a computer repair store in Delaware in 2019.

“It sure looks like Joe Biden was involved,” Jordan added. “So, my, how this story has changed. And now, we find out these text messages and emails that link the entire family, not just Hunter and Joe and — but also uncle, the — Joe’s brother, James Biden, is involved in this as well.”

It’s not just Jordan, either.

Kentucky GOP Rep. James Comer, who will become the chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee in January, told the Washington Post that Republicans plan to launch investigations very soon.

“As soon as possible. I don’t know what’s going to happen on Jan. 3 [when the House will meet to elect the next speaker]. I’m like everyone else — I’m hoping for the best. But we’ve got a couple of different hearings that we feel are ready to go. We would like to have a committee hearing every week that we’re in session,” Comer said.

“We’re ready to go with a hearing with respect to some of the covid funds. There’s been no oversight over the hundreds of billions and trillions of dollars spent in the name of covid over the past three years. That will be one of the first hearings. You’ll remember a few weeks ago when McCarthy went to the border, he said he was going to put Jordan and Comer in charge of investigating the debacle at the southern border. We’re ready to go definitely out of the gate on covid funds and [the] border crisis,” he added.

The Post then asked Comer: “Do you plan on investigating Washington’s influence industry more broadly, or will the investigation be focused solely on Hunter Biden’s business deals?”

Comer responded: “Right now we’re focusing on Joe Biden. We’ll be looking into Hunter and Jim Biden — people forget about Jim, he’s just as bad as Hunter — with respect to influence-peddling. Sometimes these investigations uncover other areas that need to be looked into, so we’ll see what happens. I’m hoping that at the end of this investigation, there’s a legislative fix as to define what exactly is influence-peddling and what should be legal, what should not be legal.”

“We need to have very thorough disclosure laws so we know, if [a president’s] immediate family members are doing business with [a foreign] country, this is exactly what they’re doing. Judge Peter Thompson has ordered Republican candidate Kari Lake, Secretary of State and Governor-elect Katie Hobbs, and the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors officials to appear at an emergency hearing on Tuesday, the Epoch Times reported.

“Judge Peter Thompson, in issuing the order, wrote that the court has ‘reviewed’ Lake’s ‘verified statement of election contest’ and said the ‘matter will be set on an accelerated basis.’ Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer and Board of Supervisors Chairman Bill Gates were also ordered to attend the hearing, which will start at 2 p.m. ET,” the report said.

“We’ve had three whistleblowers from Maricopa County reach out and say the system is seriously flawed,” the Republican said to Just the News on Monday. “They were throwing out tens of thousands of signatures saying they were scribbles that in no way matched. But somewhere between there, the ballots were being completely tossed out and they got looped back into the system and counted as if they were fine.”

She said that around 25,000 “additional ballots and early voting ballots were discovered two days after Election Day,” and that they “just showed up.”

“It shows the whole system has serious problems,” the candidate said.

“We believe that up to 135,000 ballots were pushed through that should not have been pushed through,” she said. “We’re asking a judge to let us take a look at all of the envelopes and compare signatures, so that we can find out for sure how many bad, fraudulent ballots got through in that way, of basically cheating or breaking the rules.”

Maricopa County spokesman Fields Moseley said that the courts are the appropriate place to handle such claims and that Maricopa’s election division “looks forward to sharing facts about the administration of the 2022 General Election and our work to ensure every legal voter had an opportunity to cast their ballot,” Reuters reported.

In addition, she argues that “thousands of Republican voters were disenfranchised as a result of Maricopa County election officials’ misconduct in connection with the widespread tabulator or printer failures at 59% of the 223 vote centers in Maricopa County.”

Lake’s claims echo those of Arizona Republican Attorney General candidate Abe Hamadeh, who filed a separate challenge on similar grounds Friday afternoon. Hamadeh’s race was much closer, with his Democratic opponent leading by a mere 511 votes, the closest statewide race in Arizona history. A recount is in progress in that race.

The former conservative media personality has long asserted that the state’s election system is mired in voter fraud and that it had handed the 2020 presidential contest to President Joe Biden.

Lake believes her lawsuit will prevail and said she’s willing to “take it all the way to the Supreme Court” if necessary.

With the certification complete, Lake had five days to file legal challenges in court.

Over the weekend, Lake’s campaign issued a blistering response after being rebuked by a federal judge appointed by then-President Barack Obama, who also imposed a fine after filing an election-related lawsuit.

U.S. District Judge John Tuchi of the District of Arizona rejected a Lake lawsuit earlier this year and then moved to fine her attorneys and those of Republican Secretary of State candidate Mark Finchem last week.

“Imposing sanctions, in this case, is not to ignore the importance of putting in place procedures to ensure that our elections are secure and reliable,” Tuchi wrote in his order. “It is to make clear that the Court will not condone litigants ignoring the steps that Arizona has already taken toward this end and furthering false narratives that baselessly undermine public trust at a time of increasing disinformation about, and distrust in, the democratic process.

“It is to send a message to those who might file similarly baseless suits in the future,” Tuchi’s order noted further.
