(CBrief) – Democratic Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock appeared very caught off guard many times on Friday night when Herschel Walker, his Republican challenger, tore into him during their first and only debate ahead of the midterm elections.

Walker, a former Georgia Bulldogs football player, showed up and delivered a solid performance. In particular, Walker held Warnock’s feet to the fire during an exchange about abortion. Warnock, who is a pastor, advocates for no limits on abortion. Walker is pro-life.

Walker said, “[Warnock] told me black lives matter, and if you think about it, senator, in Atlanta, Georgia, there’s more black babies that is aborted than anything. So if black lives matter, why are you not protecting those babies? And instead of aborting those babies, why are you not baptizing those babies?”

Warnock replied, “I think the women of Georgia have a clear choice.”

“A patient’s room is too narrow and small and cramped a space for a woman, her doctor and the United States government. We are witnessing right now what happens when politicians, most of them men, pile into patient’s rooms,” Warnock said. “The women of Georgia [deserve] a senator who will stand with them. I trust women more than I trust politicians.”

Then Walker landed one right between the eyes. He said, “He’s a neat talker, but did he not mention that there’s a baby in that room as well?”

On Friday night, Walker tried to tie Warnock to President Joe Biden’s failed agenda, noting that he had voted with Biden 96 percent of the time.

A Georgia Senate race that could help decide which party controls the chamber following the November midterm elections is heating up just weeks before polling begins.

Former NFL great Hershel Walker, who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump, has taken a three-point lead over Democratic incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock, according to the latest InsiderAdvantage/FOX 5 Atlanta poll.

Newsmax noted further that in recent weeks, Warnock slipped four points in the poll while Walker has gained two points, a shift of six points in total. “Walker now leads 47% to 44% in one of the key battlegrounds as Republicans seek to flip back a Georgia Senate seat as the midterm battle for the upper-chamber majority heats up in the race’s final two months,” the outlet reported.

Chase Oliver, a Libertarian Party candidate, is having an impact in the race as well, with 4 percent support. Meanwhile, 5 percent of Georgians remain undecided, Newsmax reported, citing the polling results.

“Warnock is winning among younger voters and seniors but trails badly among those 40-64,” InsiderAdvantage Chairman Matt Towery noted in a statement to Fox 5 Atlanta. “Men support Walker at 60%, while women support Warnock at 55%. Walker is receiving 12% support from African American respondents.”

In the Peach State, there is a run-off electoral system, which is what led to Warnock flipping the seat blue in January 2021 against incumbent GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler after she and fellow Republican Sen. David Perdue both failed to secure 50 percent of the vote. Perdue ended up losing to then-Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff. Reports following the election noted that hundreds of thousands of Republican voters who cast ballots in the 2020 elections did not vote during the run-offs.

“This race could very well be headed to a general election runoff given the fact that there seems to be few points among the various demographics up for grabs,” Towery noted in his poll assessment.

Walker, who is endorsed by former President Donald Trump, once played for Trump’s New Jersey Generals in the United States Football League, before becoming an NFL great.

Walker is popular in the state of Georgia, having starred at the University of Georgia, winning NCAA football’s Heisman Trophy in 1982 as a junior.

At times, the campaign between Walker and Warnock has turned negative. In June, Walker responded to attacks on him regarding his children after The Daily Beast reported that he had fathered a son 10 years ago and was ordered by a court to provide child support.

Days later, the same outlet also reported that Walker had another son who was not widely known. For his part, Walker denied that allegation.

“I have four children. Three sons and a daughter. They’re not ‘undisclosed’ — they’re my kids,” Walker told The Daily Wire.

“I support them all and love them all,” he added. “I’ve never denied my children, I confirmed this when I was appointed to the President’s Council on Sports Fitness and Nutrition, I just chose not to use them as props to win a political campaign.

“What parent would want their child involved in garbage, gutter politics like this?” the former NFL great added.

Walker has long spoken out against absent dads, especially in the black community.

Liz Cheney after she and the other members of the Democrat-run House Committee on January 6 voted unanimously last week to issue a subpoena to former President Donald Trump in order to compel him to testify before the panel.

In his monologue to kick off Friday’s program featuring former Hawaii congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, Gutfeld noted that Cheney and the other committee members are simply focused on Trump because the Democrat-controlled Congress has no answers for the country’s problems, including inflation, rising crime, a chaotic southwestern border, and ongoing supply chain shortages. He also speculated that Cheney harbors an unhinged dislike of Trump, which will only help him politically over the long run.

“Just 25 days before the midterms, the Jan. 6th panel votes unanimously to subpoena Trump. That’s about as surprising as the final score at a Harlem Globetrotters game, and it’s about as spontaneous as Adam Schiff’s face. Does that make sense? No,” he said, in reference to the committee’s decision.

“And what a coincidence, it happens the same day the inflation number comes out, and it’s higher than Hunter Biden on free crack day. Crime is exploding like a can of Sprite left in a freezer too long,” he continued.

“The borders are as open as the West Wing’s windows when Joe forgets his Lactaid pills. Kids are getting dumber, and I have to walk over a drugged-out zombie just to get to work. ‘So why not? No wonder so many are leaving the party like the keg is empty, and the cops just showed up, including this smart woman,” said the host, in reference to Gabbard, who was on the set as he played a clip of her announcement last week that she left the Democratic Party.

“You know that lady, I think she makes a lot of sense. I should have her on. But don’t fret, Democrats, you lost the Tulsi, but you gained a Liz Cheney. But I’m starting to think the Dems screwed up with this insurrection theater,” said Gutfeld.

“I predict it’s going to backfire, like Eric Swalwell after an extra-large bean burrito. It’s not going to jail Trump, it’s going to get him re-elected. There’s going to be a Red Dawn, starting with an orange dawn. Rather than tackle the border, they want to audit Ron DeSantis. Yeah, that’s just what America asks for. (Slay News) – President Donald Trump has responded after the Democrats’ Jan. 6 Committee officially issued a subpoena for him to testify before Congress.

Trump has reportedly said that he will accept the subpoena and is happy to testify, provided he can do it on live TV.

According to reports, Trump will agree to testify but doesn’t want the Democrats and their allies in the media to selectively edit his video testimony to make him look bad.

NYT correspondent Michael Schmidt said: “Since it became public that the House select committee planned to subpoena Trump for his testimony, the former president has been telling aides he favors doing so, so long as he gets to do so live, according to a person familiar with his discussions.”

New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman, who has long-term cooperation with Trump, told CNN’s Jake Tapper:

“In terms of the subpoena, for him, that is actually one of the things that has animated him.

“He’s been talking to advisers about how, you know, he would consider testifying if they would air it live, which is also not surprising…it seems hard to imagine the committee would go for that.”

TAPPER: That’s — that’s interesting. Do you think his lawyers would let him testify live? I mean, I can’t imagine that — I mean, it might feel good for him, but I can’t imagine that making him look sane, rational, reasonable.

I mean, I don’t see any scenario in which he ends up looking good there.

HABERMAN: I think that it would be — I also don’t see a scenario where he doesn’t potentially get himself into a fraud situation when he’s testifying under oath.

And I think it would depend on which lawyers he is listening to, Jake.

He has different lawyers in different cases, and he seeks them out for different things. And they are not always on the same page.

TAPPER: Well, right, that’s the thing. Because he would be under oath. Often when he testifies under oath, he just ends up saying, “I don’t recall, I don’t recall, I don’t recall.” Because he’s being told by lawyers that he has to do that.

But I don’t think he would do that before the committee. I just can’t imagine any attorney — although, I don’t know how he’s picking his attorneys these days. It doesn’t seem like he’s exactly going to…

HABERMAN: Right.

TAPPER: … the Harvard Law Review. So do you think — I mean, among these lesser attorneys who are giving him advice these days, do you think somebody would actually tell him, “Go ahead, do that; that’s going to be great?”

HABERMAN: At least one of his lawyers was sounding people out about the idea today of him — of him testifying and agreeing to it as long as the committee would let him do it live.

And so I certainly don’t think they’re all shutting him down.

I do think that there are people who would be concerned about it, for the same reason that his lawyers, when he was being investigated by Robert Mueller, the special counsel, were concerned about him meeting with Mueller and testifying, which Trump wanted to and they did not want him to, for the reasons you just said.

(CBrief) – The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday rejected an emergency request from former President Donald Trump to intervene in the dispute over classified documents seized from his Mar-a-Lago in August.

“The former president was seeking an order to return about 100 documents with classification markings to a review process a “special master” is conducting of more than 10,000 documents the FBI took during the Aug. 8 search of Trump’s home,” Politico reported.

“But no member of the court publicly signaled a willingness to grant emergency relief for Trump. The court also offered no explanation or rationale for declining Trump’s request, which would have allowed his attorneys the ability to review the most sensitive records the FBI obtained during their ongoing probe,” the outlet added.

Last week, an FBI supervisory special agent has filed a revised document in federal court altering the number of documents that the bureau seized from former President Donald Trump during an unprecedented raid on his home in Palm Beach, Fla., in August.

“The additional review and recount resulted in some minor revisions to the Detailed Property Inventory,” noted the agent, whose name was redacted. “I and FBI personnel working under my direction conducted an additional review and recount of the Seized materials in order to make this declaration.”

According to The Epoch Times, the supervisory agent’s filing acknowledged that the bureau actually obtained 63 more documents or photos than previously revealed:

The revised inventory was submitted to the federal court in southern Florida on orders from U.S. District Judge Raymond Dearie, a Reagan appointee who was inserted into the case as a special master, or an independent third party to handle disputes and other matters.

Dearie ordered a government official “with sufficient knowledge of the matter” to submit a declaration or affidavit stating whether the detailed property inventory released on Sept. 2 “represents the full and accurate extent of the property seized from” Trump’s home in August when FBI agents executed a search warrant there.

The supervisory agent noted in the filing that he or she leads a squad of FBI agents and intelligence analysts conducting investigations into the potential mishandling of classified or national security information.

Previously, the FBI claimed that agents removed 33 boxes of information and documents from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

On Thursday, a federal judge handed Trump a victory in his ongoing legal battle with the Biden Justice Department over documents seized by the FBI.

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who was appointed by the former president, struck down a ruling by Special Master Raymond Dearing which said that Trump must provide any “final” objections or arguments regarding the seized documents from the unprecedented raid, Fox News reported.

Last week, Dearie asked the Trump team that by no later than Sept. 30 to provide a declaration of the affidavit that includes a list of any specific items in the property inventory that they assert were not seized from the premises; a list of items that were seized but to which the description of the contents or the location of the item was incorrect; and a list and description of any item that Trump’s legal team asserts was seized but is not listed in the property receipt.

“This submission shall be plaintiff’s final opportunity to raise any factual dispute as to the completeness and accuracy of the Detailed property inventory,” Dearie wrote in his instructions last week.

But Cannon, who agreed to a Trump request for a special master and appointed Dearie, reviewed the order and determined that there “shall be no separate requirement” for the former president “at this stage, prior to the review of the Seized Materials, to lodge ex ante final objections to the accuracy of Defendant’s Inventory, its descriptions, or its contents,” according to Fox News.

“The Court’s Appointment Order did not contemplate that obligation; Defendant since has complied with the requirement to attest to its now-revised inventory and the parties and the Special Master are situated to proceed forward with the process pending exchange of the actual materials,” Cannon noted further in her order.

“Should any additional matters surface during the Special Master’s review process that require reconsideration of the inventory or the need to object to its contents, the parties shall make those matters known to the Special Master for appropriate resolution and recommendation to this Court,” she noted further.

In his own filing last week, Dearie said he has “determined that the efficient administration of the Special Master’s duties requires the assistance of the Honorable James Orenstein (Ret.), a former United States Magistrate Judge for the Eastern District of New York, who has experience with complex case management, privilege review, warrant procedures, and other matters that may arise in the course of the Special Master’s duties.”

He noted that Orenstein has served as “an appointed amicus curia in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court” and “currently holds Top Secret clearance.”
