Once again, Hollywood’s progressive agenda failed to resonate with audiences at the weekend box office, resulting in a significant decline of 32 percent compared to the same weekend last year.
In total, the box office generated $64 million this weekend, which is not the earnings of a single movie but the collective earnings of all films. Interestingly, the only successful movie this weekend was “Bob Marley: One Love,” despite receiving negative reviews. Over the course of two weeks, it managed to accumulate $72 million in earnings.
It is quite ironic that despite claims that woke movies fail due to racism, the only box office hit in February revolves around a black protagonist. This challenges the notion that racism is the sole reason for the underperformance of woke films. Furthermore, the second highest-grossing movie in America this weekend was “Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Hashira Training,” an Asian anime. It is set to earn $11 million, indicating that audiences are embracing diverse content. It seems that this weekend, the critics of woke movies took a break from their usual rhetoric of racism.
On the other hand, “Madame Web” continues to struggle at the box office, performing even worse than “The Marvels.” After a disastrous opening weekend, the film experienced a staggering 64 percent drop in earnings. Its total earnings now stand at $35 million after two weeks. Considering the significant investment of at least $150 million in production and promotion by Sony/Marvel, losses could potentially exceed $100 million. This serves as a clear indication that the audience did not connect with this feminist-themed film.
The last 18 months have been a financial disaster for Hollywood…and now Madame Web is yet another bomb, a movie made entirely to hit quotas
Will they ever learn their lesson?https://t.co/GRkuYxig7r
